NAPA is delighted to launch a new resource developed by and for care home managers. ‘A Manager’s Guide to Arts in Care Homes’ shares suggestions and inspiration from three managers doing exciting work involving the arts and creativity.

Shona Bradbury (Appleby House), Fatma Makalo (Bridgeside Lodge Care Home) and Marlene Kelly (Auburn Mere Care Home) helped Alison Teader, Programme Director of the NAPA Arts in Care Homes programme to compile helpful tips and ideas for developing a person-centred arts offer involving staff teams, artists and local communities. Artists and arts organisations, including Magic Me, Live Music Now, The Spitz and Drawing Life also contributed ideas and suggestions on ways for care homes to work in partnership with the arts sector to increase their offer of quality arts opportunities for individuals living and working in care homes. Particular reference is paid to how evidence of arts engagement can be used to support the six key evidence categories for Care Quality Commission inspections.
