I run music and singing sessions in care homes and sheltered accommodation. I also work one-to-one with people with dementia, writing songs with them about their life.

Specific projects for care settings

I have been developing my own way of working with people living with dementia that focuses on using the power of music to help reinforce one’s sense of identity. This is done through person-centred care that uses nostalgic material to help participants reconnect with their past, and therefore their identity, with the aim to create a song with them based on these findings. An article about my work was published in the Dementia Journal in 2019 and I have presented my work to such organisations as Nordoff Robins (the music therapy charity).
